First release : 26 Mar 2013
App size: 11.06 Mb
Students learn by DOING, not by looking or listening.
Every XrMath App provides a virtually limitless supply of questions to let children DO math.
Each question can be repeated as often as needed - the numbers are random.
The questions are crafted by a retired Math teacher who was:
Head of Maths in two Secondary Schools
Teachers College lecturer
Lecturer at a joint Australian and New Zealand Mathematics Colloquium
MathEx Quizmaster
Lecturer at many Teacher In Service Courses and Teacher Refresher Courses
Recipient of the prestigious Sir Woolf Fisher Memorial Award
Founder of the highly regarded NumberWorks math coaching schools in New Zealand, Australia, the UK and Dubai
The list of questions is color coded to show the degree of difficulty. The question difficulties range over several years.
Those students that need to can start with easier questions.
Those who finish quickly can move on to more challenging ones.
The teacher and student chose where to work. They can go back or skip forward, at any time, to get questions that are appropriate.
Every question has a Example screen showing a worked example, but with different numbers.
Questions answered correctly are ticked so both teacher and student can monitor progress.
The App generates the question and marks the answer, leaving the teacher free to work one-to-one with individuals or groups of students.
In this app the questions are carefully graded from easy up to difficult in 32 steps.
Read decimal scales with graduations of tenths, fifths, halves etc.
Read fraction scales with graduations of halves, quarters, eighths, twelfths.
Find the distance between points on a scale.
Read logarithmic scales.
As well as its obvious use, reading scales reinforces concepts of place value and fraction.
